Alice Kettle Embroidery Workshop

KB19 Collaborative Project

Collaborative Embroidery Workshop

Alice Kettle was invited by Muhammad Zeeshan, Curator of Karachi Biennale 2019 (KB19), and the Karachi Biennale Trust to conduct a two-day workshop hosted at the British Council, Karachi, on June 26-27, 2019.

The workshop had two primary objectives: to impart Alice Kettle's embroidery skills to local embroiderers, and to learn about their techniques and experiences in return. It marked the beginning of Alice's KB19 project, which was created collaboratively with the women who attended.

The British Council team, represented by Ahsan Abbas and Quratulain Amjad, provided generous support in managing and organizing the room and arrangements for the workshop, making this intensive cultural exchange possible.
