KB19 Peek Freans Commission
Arsalan Nasir was selected as the winner of the KB19 Peek Freans Emerging Artist Prize. This new prize was created to recognize a young artist with extraordinary ability to envision the Biennale theme.
Nasir interpreted the KB19 theme of ecology in a playful and imaginative way designed to engage young audiences. The prize invited artists under 30 years of age to submit proposals through an open call. Applications were received from small and large towns across Pakistan, including Malakand, Peshawar, Lahore, Hyderabad, and Karachi.
At the inaugural ceremony, Nasir received a unique medallion and was presented to the national and international art elite. His fully commissioned artwork was unveiled at KB19, establishing him as a distinguishing force in Pakistan's contemporary art scene going into the future.
A distinguished jury of prominent artists and educationists selected the final winner based on the most outstanding proposal:
